Jim Reynolds holds a bachelor’s and a master of divinity degree from Abilene Christian University (1964, 1967), a doctorate from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California (1974), and a law degree from Southern Methodist University (1981).

A graduate from Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado in 1960 after earning all-state honors in both football and basketball, Jim was team captain at Abilene Christian, MVP of the 1964 NCAA southwest regional tournament and three-time ACU scoring leader. He averaged 21.8 as a sophomore in 1961-62, 25.4 as a junior in 1962-63 and 22.2 as a senior in 1963-64.

Jim rewrote the record book during his three year varsity career in basketball at Abilene Christian. After his senior season in 1963-64, his school records included most points in a game (45), season (599) and career (1,618); best three-year scoring average (23.1); best career free throw (.791) and field goal (.490) shooting percent; and best season scoring average (25.4). He was named to all-America teams by Sport magazine and Associated Press, and he was drafted by Cincinnati of the NBA.

Jim has been a licensed marriage and family counselor, and published numerous articles and books, including Secrets of Eden, God and Human Sexuality (1974), The Lepers Among Us (2007), The Lavish Hospitality of God (2009), Why We Don’t Shoot the Wounded (2010), The Unfinished Drama of Scripture (2012), Naked Church: Walking in Authentic Community Toward Christian Maturity (2014), Beyond the Pulpit (2015) and Redeeming Eve: The Spirit, Not Gender, Determines Gifting in the Church (2016).

Jim has taught religion, theology, philosophy, and biblical studies at Pepperdine University and the University of Texas, and presently is an adjunct professor at Dallas Christian College. From 1981 to 2007, Jim was a family lawyer and partner with the Whitaker Chalk law firm in Fort Worth, Texas. Since 1984 he has been pastor of Lake Highlands Church in Dallas, Texas.

Jim and his wife, Donna, have two children and eight grandchildren.
