Nancy Cloninger Brooks

April 29, 1935 – April 1, 2015

Nancy Cloninger Brooks of Plano, TX passed away on April 1, 2015. She was 79 years old.

Nancy is survived by her children Ronnie Brooks, Marshall Brooks, David Brooks and wife, Vicki Brooks, her sister, Marshan Hardin, her 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Jayhue Brooks, her father, Marshall Cloninger, her mother, Mary Ruth Honeycutt, and her step-father, Clyde “Buck” Brightwell.

Nancy was born on April 29, 1935 in Kannapolis, NC. She spent most of her childhood in Kannapolis where she met and married her husband. The newlyweds moved to Cayce, SC and lived there until Ronnie died on April 20, 1966. After several years, Nancy and her young boys moved to Dallas, TX to be closer to her mother and step-father.

After living in Dallas for several years, she decided to pursue her dream of attending college. She graduated from East Texas State University (now Texas A & M Commerce) with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Never one to stay in the same place for long, she lived in San Diego, CA, Atlanta, GA, Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL. She moved back to Texas in 1995 to be able to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. Nancy loved God, her family, singing, dancing, and travelling. She will be missed.
